John Cranshaw: Art Inspires a Better Day
John Cranshaw is a Nashville artist and photographer whose work celebrates the beauty, color and character of the world around us. His work ranges from expressive contemporary paintings to fine-art photography, with close studies of orchids, wildlife, landscapes and everyday moments. He brings a photographer’s eye for composition and an artist’s freedom with color, texture, light and emotion.
His paintings are bold and full of movement. In his series The Color of Life, each work turns a feeling such as joy, love, serenity, hope, courage, freedom or new beginnings into color and texture. In John’s words, “Life is never experienced in just black and white”. His abstract collection, Moving Art, includes some of his most striking originals, which draw attention in galleries. His orchid work moves from fine-art photography into digital orchid art, showing the detail of rare species such as Bulbophyllum and Vanda.
John was named “Artist of the Week” by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville, with support from F&M Bank. His art was shown on The Nashville Sign in the heart of the city.
